I have been diving off of the 2 Shea for over five years and have never been disappointed. Whether you are a recreational diver, spearfisherman, Wreck diver, photographer or a fisherman 2Shea charters always caters to your needs and desires. Without a doubt this is the best charter on the west coast and very possibly Florida as a whole. The captain is always nice and puts you on the spots you want to dive or fish.
I would like to start off by stating that I have been diving for over 20 years all over the world and I would rank my trip out with 2 Shea charters as one of the best I have ever been on. From the minute I got off the phone, Capt Tj made me want to go diving with him so I brought my son Oliver for his 1st open water dive. When we got down to the dock we were told it was going to be a bit rough in the morning but should lay down as the day went on. Now I am used to much bigger dive boats so I was a little concerned when we were told this. 45 minutes later we were about 12 miles offshore and it was not till we slowed down that I realized how rough it was!!! The ride out was so smooth I couldn’t believe it for as big as the seas were. I know on a lot of the other much bigger boats that I had been on that we would have gotten the tar beat out of us. GREAT BOAT CAPT.
The dives we did were what I had expected from the Gulf. It is not the Caribbean with beautiful reefs and tropicals but every spot was loaded with life. Tons and tons of fish. My son had an absolute blast. It was the highlight of his spring break and my much needed vacation. Capt TJ had a rod on board and between dives we were even able to fish catching grouper after grouper. I have never been on a dive boat that allowed you to do that. To add to my dive boat 1st’s, we had a few spear fisherman with us and I guess they did very well because they shot a bunch of fish. At the end of the trip Capt TJ sent us home with a few fillets of hog….it was fantastic. The best fish my wife and I have ever eaten.
This trip was full of the kind of surprises you would expect at Christmas, not on a dive charter. Capt you told me your goal for every charter is for your customer to want to write a review on the trip. I told you after ours I would and here it is, with help from Oliver. Thank you for making my sons 1st open water dive a memory he will not forget and WE WILL see you again.

LOVED IT. Best fishing trip I have ever been on
I was in from the University of North Dakota and all I wanted to do was spearfish. I am the only one in my family who does that and after looking at most charters this was a problem because they didnt allow you to do both. I finally got a recommendation for 2 Shea charters and decided to take a look. After talking with TJ a few times and realizing how great of a guy he is we booked our trip. He told us that we would catch a ton of fish and the other guests days prior caught over 200 to 300 fish in a half day trip. I didnt believe it. We went out and ended up catching over 300 for sure and I got to go spearing and got my limit of hogs and 3 nice sheepheads which made a nice dinner for the family. TJ runs a top notch guide service and will not disappoint. He is all about having fun and being safe and no matter what he will put you on a pile of fish. TJ and his assitant Matt made this fishing trip the high light of my spring break and possibly the year. Im already looking forward to the next time that I get to come down and spear some more hogs and sheepheads and hopefully grouper if the season is open. If you are looking for a man who loves what he does and is just an overall great guy 2 Shea charters is the only one I would recommend.

Scuba diving off of this boat is nothing but safe and fun. My dad and I have gone diving with 2Shea charters a few times over the last couple of years, and I never fail to see incredible underwater scenes. TJ always knows where to go for the best possible visibility. Whether you’re underwater or on the boat, you are in for a great time!
What a refreshing change to the typical dive boat experience. I had 2 Shea Charters booked for a 2 tank dive while I was down on vacation last month. We met at the dock but it was obvious that the weather was not in our favor. Even though it was calm at the dock Capt Tj told us that it was probably rough offshore. He gave us the option of heading out or calling it right there. We had a full boat and everyone was willing so we loaded it up and off we went. After about 2 miles it was evident that it was just going to be too rough so Capt Tj turned around and we came home. Most every dive boat I have ever been on would have proceeded out and made us dive in miserable conditions, especially with a full boat of paying customers. When we got back to the dock, to my surprise, he did not charge us a thing. I am not sure what it cost to go where we did, but he would not even take the 20$ i tried to give him. 4 days later we gave it another go and had the best dive trip my wife and I have ever had. The dive spots were nice, not like the Carribean we are used to, but tons of fish and good visibility. The fast boat, hospitality, and most importantly the Captain….the best we have ever been on in 10 years of dive vacation experiences. We will be back.

Had a great day diving Sunday with the NAVC post conference diving crew. The temp 80 ft below was a bit chilly but saw some huge Goliath Grouper and a school of Barracuda at the Sheridan. Wow – what a GREAT day we had fishing w/ Capt. TJ. We’ve been out many times in many places and have NEVER had a day with as many catches as we did w/ TJ. He has an uncanny ability to find the spots where fish literally jump onto your hook.
He dealt w/ all three of us perfectly and with great patience….. One who truly needs no help at all (Dad), one who thinks he needs no help but does (son) and one who loves to fish but cannot stand to bait the hook or take off the catch (me – Mom). What a great time.

FInally went out on my first fishing charter with Captain TJ… and what a great day it was. Captain TJ easily managed several divers spearfishing as well as several people fishing on deck. Everyone had a great time and everyone went home with a lot of fish!!
I saw first hand what the term “fish in a barrel” meant. Fish were basically jumping in the boat at each of Captain TJ’s personal fishing spots. Several times as soon as I dropped the line down, I was reeling in another fish. Was impressive.
I definitely recommend Captain TJ to anyone wanting an excellent fishing experience. Doesn’t matter if you are a novice or a seasoned “pro”, you will definitely enjoy your trip.

As a friend of Captain TJ from back in high school I remember him as a stand up guy.
Recently getting back in touch and taking a fishing trip with him for the first time I was amazed at how he found in every spot loads of Grouper and other fish. Taking only a four hour trip we managed to catch & release several dozen fish and several large Groupers.
I can’t wait until the season starts up as I know with Captain TJ’s mastery of this area we will be sure to have some good eat’n!

We went out with TJ on 11/9 and immediately started hooking up. Every spot we hit was non-stop action. We had no problem limiting out on keepers. A week later and I’ll be honest my arm is still a little sore from pulling up fish for 8 hours straight.
I’ve been diving for over 20 years and I have to say that Capt. TJ is hands-down BEST compared to any charter in the STATE – not just the Gulf Coast!
Safe, fun, knowledgeable, great ride. I just can’t say enough wonderful things about this operation. I can’t wait to come back and hunt again with 2Shea.
I have been on alot charters over the 19 yrs of living in the Tampa/St.Pete area and as a rule I take my own gear due to the below average gear that is the norm for charter boats. I was very surprised to find quality gear in great shape, several combo’s were equal to mine. FYI my reels are over $250 each. We cault our limit on grouper and smallest on board at the end of the day was 25 inches, that said, not a single gear failure, My next trip out (will be soon) I will leave my gear at home.

Captain TJ, this was my first trip with you and I must say it was FANTASIC!!! Thank you for working with us so we could get out when the weather was so iffy. It was a first class day.
On the fish!!!! Captain TJ had us hauling up fish all day. If we were at a number that wasn’t hitting Captain TJ got us the heck outta there and back on the fish. No wasting time “fishing” your catching fish all day.
Gotta give my props to Capt. T.J.. What a great Captian. He is very professional, with saftey and “FISH” being the main concern. He makes everyone on the boat feel like an old friend. His knowledge of finding fish is exceptional. Our 11-13-11 trip limited out on grouper and I’m not talking about the kind of fish that just barely make the legal size limit. Our group brought in some very very nice size fish. What impressed me the most was his willingness to put you on FISH…..
Every placed we stopped we got hits…. But if we weren’t bringing keepers on the boat, he did not hesitate to pull up anchor and move us to a better spot. I loved his “3 song” minimum. If keeper fish were not being brought on the boat after 3 songs on the radio it was time to move….. Fortunately we were able to reel in keepers at nearly every stop we made…. I appreciate his professionalism and willingness to move to the fish. I’ve been on so many charters in the past, where it seems the Captain doesn’t want to waste fuel by moving to the fish just to increase their bottom line of profit. This definatley was not the case with Captian T.J.. Catching nice fish was his main priority.
His boat is exceptional with plenty of room to move about. We had 7 in our group and there was plenty of room to fish. The boat has nice Yamaha power making the move from one spot to another quick to ensure maximum fishing time.
I would highly recommend Captian T.J. to anyone looking for great fishing experience….You will not be disappointed……

I couldn’t agree more with David. We were on the fish at the first stop with a couple of nice keeper Gags and a Red before moving on to another sweet spot. The weather was nice for a change and the water temp was surprisingly warmer than I was expecting. Thank you Captain TJ for putting us on the fish all day making for a memorable trip out in the Gulf. I will be back for another freezer full of great fish. Check out the pictures that should be posted soon.
November 9, 2011 was supposed to be cold, but our trip was red hot! Nearly flat seas, very little wind and tons of fish. We shot over 30 hogfish, caught over 3 dozen grouper and kept an assortment of Reds, Gags, Mango’s, and even a nice sized Amberjack. Had to leave behind so many extra fish, it’s a shame our trip had to end. Back at the dock before five o’clock and even found an expensive camera w/stobe floating during the day. This captain and crew are the best in the Gulf where there are more fish available for anyone willing and able to get them. Top notch condition of the boat where safety comes first, I only wish he could have inboards on his next boat. Captn TJ on the 2Shea is awesome !!!

Hands down, THE BEST charter Capt in the Gulf in my opinion…I have been out with Capt TJ many times and he always finds us the fish, he is very safety oriented, and he just goes above and beyond to ensure every person on his boat has a great day…I could not think of one negative thing to say if you asked.
2 SHEA FINDS FISH!!!! There are a lot of things to like about Capt TJ. He has a fast comfortable boat, he goes out of his way to make sure everyone is having a good time and he makes you feel like an old friend from day one but the most important thing a charter captain can do is find fish and find fish he does.
On a spearfishing/rod and reel expedition with him I dove down the anchor line to see a red grouper going crazy. I finally realized I was watching TJ help my 10 year old son catch one of his first fish…from the fish’s perspective. We all returned that day exhausted and enjoying the dumbfounded faces on all the other people at the docks when they saw our haul.
Dear, Captain Shea thank you for taking us out fishing. I had a blast ! When I grow up I am going to take out charters and I am going to try to do it like you because your the best fisherman iv’e ever met! . Thanks again Cole and Quinn Ryan.

The best dive experience I’ve ever had. Cap TJ was very helpful, energetic and most importantly, knew where to go. By far, the fastest dive boat I’ve ever been on. On top of everything, we had the pleasure of diving with a dolphin. I would recommend using this outfit anytime.
